Republic of Kenya

As part of an upgrade to the overall design and functionality of their document, the watermark design in the Kenya East African Community (EAC) ePassport is clearly visible on the visa pages.

The watermark design in Kenya’s new passport shows the Kenyan Coat of Arms sitting in a vignetted area on the bottom half of the page with an EAC watermark positioned above, and was produced by Portals using cylinder mould watermarking techniques.

Recommended by Interpol, watermarks created by the cylinder mould process are recognised as being the most secure available and despite developments in counterfeiting techniques the three-dimensional multi-tonal watermark remains virtually impossible to simulate and helps to provide the foundational level of passport document security.
